Anaglyphs:  David Neufer
Film Source:  Library of Congress

This is a series of anaglyphs taken from ""Skyscrapers of New York City from the North River," a film made by Thomas A. Edison, Co. in 1903.  The camera records the boats and structures with a sweeping lateral motion that goes on for over 3 minutes.  The lateral motion and the slow speed of the boat give these constructions appropriate depth.

The 1903 image (left) includes Trinity Church, located near the future site of the World Trade Center (right).

Original film by Thomas A. Edison, Co.  Film and scene information is found at the Library of Congress.   Current pictures of this area can be found at OldNYC.
